Ag Skills
The Ag Mechanics Skills Career Development Event (CDE) is a district contest that is held at Tennessee Technological University in February.  A team consists of 13 FFA members, two of which must be first year FFA members.  There are 11 different skills that are a part of this CDE.  The winning team at the district CDE will move on to the regional CDE.

The following is from the Middle Tennessee Ag Mechanics Skills Handbook:  The intent of these skills is to be a part of the instructional program in Agricultural Education.  All skills are part of the State Board of Education approved “Vocational Agricultural Curriculum Framework, 1985.”  The intent of the FFA Skills contest is to use the competitive events as a motivator for students to perform better.  The competitive events also are to serve as a reward for the students that excel in the agricultural mechanics skill areas as a result of the instructional program

This event consists of the following components:

PLUMBING
LAND MEASURING - 2 FFA MEMBERS
FARM LEVELING - 2 FFA MEMBERS
RAFTER CUTTING
BLOCK LAYING
ARC WELDING
BRONZE WELDING
BOARD FITTING - 1ST YEAR FFA MEMBER
THREE WAY SWITCH
SMALL GAS ENGINE
TOOL IDENTIFICATION - 1ST YEAR FFA MEMBER

SCORING

Each of the 11 categories is scored  by the following method:
1st place - 15 points
2nd place - 13 points
3rd place - 11 points
4th place - 9 points
5th place - 7 points
All others - 5 points

Total Possible Points (11 x 15) = 165 points
