Horse Judging
The Horse Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) is a statewide contest held in September that consists of a four person team and is open to all FFA chapters in the state of Tennessee.  FFA members competing in this event will have to evaluate live horses and give oral reasons on why they placed the horses in a particular order.

The following is from the CDE Handbook:  The purpose of the Tennessee FFA Horse Evaluation Career Development Event is to stimulate the study of and interest in equine science selection, management and production through the agricultural education curriculum, and provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of instruction in equine science.

This event consists of the following components:

INDIVDUAL

A. Breed Identification Class
B. Tack and Equipment Identification Class
C. Two Halter Classes
D. Two Performance Classes
E. Two Oral Reasons Classes (1 Halter set, 1 Performance set)

Each of the four team members will complete the four components of this event and then all four individual scores are added together to get the team total.
